Astrology has always learned from examples. Long before anyone wrote a textbook, astrologers studied the charts of kings, generals and poets and asked what the sky had in common with the life. The Celebrities page is that habit with a search box: a database of more than 70,000 well-known people, each with a calculated birth chart, that you can browse on its own or hold up against your own chart.

Where the data comes from

The birth data comes from Astrodatabank, the largest public collection of verified birth data, built and maintained by astrologers over decades. Each person on our page links back to their Astrodatabank profile, where you can see the source of the birth time and how reliable it is.

That reliability matters. A birth time taken from a birth certificate is solid. A birth time remembered by a cousin at a wedding is less so. Where no reliable time exists, the page says time unknown, and the chart is calculated without houses, so you are never shown a rising sign that was simply guessed. Most people in the database do have a recorded time, which is what makes it so useful for studying houses and angles.

Searching the database

There are several ways in, and each answers a different kind of curiosity.

By name. Type part of a name and you get everyone who matches. This is the quickest way to look up someone whose chart you have always wondered about.

By birthday. Choose a month and a day and see who was born on the same day of the year as you, whatever the year. These people share your Sun sign and very nearly your Sun degree, which is a pleasant way to meet the Sun's character in many different lives.

By birth date. Add the year and you find people born on exactly the same date. They share not just the Sun but most of the planets, often all of them except the Moon. If any of them were born close to your birth time, their chart is almost a twin of yours, and the page becomes an experiment: same sky, different life.

By country, and an A to Z list of everyone, for browsing.

Each result shows the person's name, birth date, time and place, a short biography, and the link to Astrodatabank.

Comparing your chart with theirs

This is where the page becomes personal. Choose a chart, your own or any chart in your birth data list, or, if you are not signed in, enter your birth data in the form. The page then finds famous people who share specific placements with that chart. There are four searches.

Shared planets, one by one. For each planet in your chart, by sign and house, the page lists celebrities with the same placement: everyone with the Moon in Cancer in the 10th house, everyone with Mars in Virgo in the 6th, and so on through the chart. This search keeps to the better known names, the most famous first, three at a time, with the rest one click away.

Shared aspects, one by one. The same, for your aspects. If you have Venus square Saturn, the page shows who else has that square, with the same signs and houses.

Combined shared planets and combined shared aspects. Instead of going placement by placement, these rank celebrities by how many placements they share with you in total, and list exactly which ones. The person at the top of the list is the famous chart that resembles yours the most.

A small warning about the combined search. The person who shares the most with you may turn out to be a nineteenth century tax inspector with a strong opinion about bridges. That is not a failure of the search. That is how it feels to discover what a chart actually is: a shape that many very different lives can grow into.

How to use a famous chart well

A celebrity who shares your placement is not a prediction of your future. Two people with the same Mars in Aries in the 10th house will both be direct and ambitious at work; one may run a company and the other may be the person in the office who replies to every message within four seconds. The placement describes the drive. The life decides what it builds.

What a famous example gives you is visibility. A public life is a well documented life, and it shows a placement working at full volume, in public, over decades. Reading about someone who shares your Moon in the 12th house can make your own experience easier to name. Seeing the same aspect in five very different careers shows you which part of it is the constant and which part is the circumstance.

It also works in reverse. If you study astrology, the database is a laboratory. Pick a placement you are unsure about, find twenty people who have it, and read their biographies. Patterns appear quickly, and so do the exceptions, which are just as instructive.

Celebrities in your reports

You will meet the database in other places too. In the birth chart readings, many placements show a short list of famous people with the same placement, with a link to see them all. It is a quick way to put a face to a sentence.

Adding a celebrity to your list

When you are signed in, every result has a button to add the person to your birth data list. From then on, their chart behaves like any other chart you keep there. You can open their full birth chart report, calculate their Trait Map, or set their chart beside yours in a compatibility or synastry report to see how your planets and theirs would get along. Whether you would actually get along is another question, since they have never been told about you.

When you are ready, open the Celebrities page here, choose your chart, and see who shares your sky.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the celebrity birth data come from?
From Astrodatabank, the best known public collection of verified birth data. Each person links to their Astrodatabank profile, where the source of the birth time and its reliability are recorded.

What does "time unknown" mean?
That no reliable birth time exists for this person. Their planets and aspects are still correct, but houses and the rising sign are left out rather than guessed, so searches with houses will not match them on those.

Can I use the comparison without an account?
Yes. Enter your birth date, time and place in the form, and you can run the shared placement searches. To add a celebrity to a birth data list and run reports on their chart, you need a free account.

Does sharing a placement with someone famous mean I will be famous?
No. A placement describes a quality, not an outcome. The same placement appears in people who became famous and in many more who did not, and the famous ones are only easier to look up.

Can I see how my chart and a celebrity's chart interact?
Yes. Add the celebrity to your birth data list, then choose them in a compatibility or synastry report. The report reads the aspects between your planets and theirs, exactly as it would for a friend or partner.
